This 10 year old mahogany front door had been damaged by the Texas sun and was no longer the focal point of the house façade. Instead of sanding down the entire door, which is very difficult and sometimes impossible when there is high detail, we used a combination of oil based paint, paint thinner and gel stain. We applied this directly over the existing finish without sanding at all and the result is fantastic. Should last another 10 years easily.
